The Great Yorkshire Show is one of the highlights of the northern events calendar and sees tens of thousands of visitors descending on the Harrogate showgroud for three days each year.

And this is where Medics UK comes in – taking care of everything from the initial safety planning and risk assessments to on-the-ground support on the event days themselves.
We are extremely proud to have worked with the Yorkshire Agricultural Society to help make the show a success since 2015.
We provide a fully-equipped medical centre which functions as a kind of on-site hospital, run by trained doctors, nurses and other medical professionals.
The Society chose Medics UK because of our scale, experience, highly skilled team of trained medical professionals, and equipment – including a range of vehicles from specially-designed ambulances to specially designed cycle response units, which help us to get to casualties across rough terrain and treat them, fast.
We also staff a purpose built medical centre with doctors and nurses, so that patients can be treated on site rather than go to hospital.
Not only that, but we can take care of the pre-event safety preparations and risk assessments, which can prove a time-consuming headache for busy event planning teams.

“One of our objectives is always to enable people to enjoy the show while placing minimum pressure on local emergency services, and Medics UK help us achieve that by offering fast and comprehensive treatment to show-goers, right there and then.”
Medics UK Founder Ken Lumley added: “Major events on the scale of the Great Yorkshire Show have the potential to pose quite a headache for essential services, from local authorities to local hospitals and ambulance services.
“With around 60 trained staff on the ground, we aim to keep their input to an absolute minimum, by being able to treat people there and then, most of the time.
“For example, we typically treat around a dozen casualties at each annual show, for everything from bee stings to animal bites and horse jumping injuries, but have yet to call on the local ambulance service for their help.”
